The confiturier

The confiturier

A native of Joliette in the Lanaudière region, Simon Turcotte was inspired from childhood by his mother Francine’s delicious meals, and his aunt’s wonderful wild-fruit jams that he loved to sample during family vacations at Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux. In this small village in the Appalachians, the budding jam maker was enchanted by the unspoiled nature of the Lower St. Lawrence, its scents and fragrances of wildflowers and fresh mown hay…

Following his studies at the Académie d’hôtellerie et de tourisme de Lanaudière (1998) and his early experience in the restaurant business, Simon Turcotte moved with his young family to Sainte-Marcelline-de-Kildare in northern Lanaudière. In September 2000, he was invited to participate at the Festival des Artisans de Sainte-Marcelline, his first opportunity to offer public tastings of his exquisite creations. Since that time he has created a dozen jam and mustard recipes, proof positive of his exceptional talent and passion.

Over the course of these 10 years Simon Turcotte has continued to discover innovative flavour combinations, putting into jars the ineffable harmonies of floral and woody aromas – literally seeking to preserve those childhood fragrances in his lovely jams, jellies and mustards!
